This is the Southern Water sewage treatment site at Motney Hill - very near here (about 5 Km).
The large straight tank is a bio-digester and is much bigger than it looks. It is sunk into the ground by more than its height. Capacity is 3500 cu m approx. We have a sensor installed on the top. We are not allowed photographs on the top because it is a hazardous area. The white spherical tank is to collect methane gas from the digester. This is used to power a generator to make electricity. The heat from the generator is used to heat the digester. If they have spare electricity it is connected to the local power grid and sold to the electricity company. So these sites are very efficient.
